The 1st Cycle Basic School (EB1)The Lion of Arroiosis located in Largo do Leão, parish of Arroios, in Lisbon.

The School operates in a purpose-built building in the 1980s, inaugurated in 1987,  with the project winning an Architecture award.

The building consists of 3 floors (blue floor, pink floor and green floor) where:
    - 14 classrooms;

    - 1 multipurpose room;

    - 1 room for information and communication technologies (ICT);

    - 1 annex with room for therapeutic accompaniments;

    - 1 Library;
    - 1 educational support room;
    - 1 room at the UAE (Specialized Support Unit for students with multiple disabilities);
    - 1 teachers' room;
    - 1 coordination cabinet;
    - 1 gym;
    - 1 cafeteria;
    - several storage rooms.

Most classrooms are equipped with water pipes and a bench with a sink.

Children also have a large playground on the lower floor and two playgrounds on the second and third floors.

The floors are interconnected through spiral-shaped ramps.

At an organizational level, the School is an integral part of theLuís de Camões School Group. The vertical grouping also includes the Luís de Camões Basic School for the 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education (EB 2.3).

The school population is heterogeneous and comes mostly from neighborhoods/parishes satellites of the parish of Arroios or even from the municipality/district of Lisbon. About 310 students attend the School.

The teaching staff is made up mainly of staff teachers, which gives it pedagogical and human stability.
